What the representations do
A proxy is a smaller working copy. Optimized media is another derived representation intended for editing. Both belong to an original source; neither makes the original disposable.
Open Manage Media through File → Project Media or command search to inspect derivation and attachment state. A generated package must match its source before it can be used.
Choose playback and delivery separately
The viewer’s media selection controls playback. Export quality is chosen independently. When you request original-media export, Meridian verifies originals even if you edited with proxies.
If playback improves with a proxy, still inspect a representative original-media export before committing to a long delivery. Check framing, timing, color, and audio alignment.
Recover interrupted work
Use the media-management and background-task status to identify whether a job is processing, failed, or awaiting attention. Resolve the stated issue before retrying. Keep completed derived files attached through the app’s workflow rather than manually substituting paths.
For a portable handoff, include the media representations required by the recipient and verify the moved project on its destination.
