Import a subtitle file
Use File → Import → Subtitles. Meridian accepts SRT, WebVTT, iTT, and supported basic CEA-608 SCC files. The import preview reports cue count, timing extent, and readability notices before adding a new caption track.
Imported timings are relative to sequence time zero. Check their alignment with the current edit; a transcript for another cut may need substantial retiming.

Current iTT export requires an integer sequence frame rate. Use SRT or WebVTT when preserving cue times at a fractional rate is required.
Know what stays in the project
The subtitle exporter carries text and timing; font, color, animation, and positioning remain in the project. Use burn-in when the finished image must contain that exact appearance.
For multiple languages, export every caption language as separate files and inspect the resulting manifest. Supply each sidecar to the destination explicitly.
